Whitehaven’s home Good Friday derby with Workington will kick off early at 1pm.
The Ortus Rec club insists, too, it will start on time because the last the time they delayed a home game to make sure everyone got in they ended up being fined.
A club spokesman said: “With it being Good Friday we expect it to be busy so we would highly recommend buying tickets in advance so it speeds up entry.
“The game will start promptly at 1pm and its on supporters to make sure they get through the gates for kick off.”
Whitehaven, who have recently expressed concerns about the size of their crowds for home games, are putting on a number of attractions to try and boost attendance mfor what is often their best-supported game of the season.
They are showing the Super League game between St Helens and Wigan on the big screen immediately after the game, with the big two getting to grips at 3pm.
It costs nothing to get in after 3pm once the derby has finished so if there’s anyone who just fancies watching the Super League match of the day and enjoying a day out they will be able to watch for free.
There’s also live entertainment after the televised game with Newton and Shacks appearing live. Haven insist that isn’t interim coach James Newton and experienced prop Marc Shackley but a very popular local singing duo.
The club is also running a raffle to win a table of six in the hospitality suite for £5 an entry.
Whitehaven don’t have a game this weekend and on March 29 travel to North Wales Crusaders ahead of the Town game.
Workington do play on Sunday, at home to Dewsbury and then travel to Newcastle Thunder before the Good Friday derby.
