Her name is Lizzee Rascal.
She’s a terror in the yard.
She is always scaring children
And she parties jolly hard.
But she’s very good at rhyming
And she doesn’t give a scrap
If there’s no-one there to listen
Just so long as she can rap.
Follow Lizzee round the garden
As she jingles east to west
As she dances through the woodland
Doing the thing that she do best
As she wafts around in harmony
Not ever in a flap
From tree to lawn to pond to nest
The Lowther Chicken Rap
Every year at Lowther, the powers-that-be cook up a garden trail that guides younger visitors round the gardens, all the while telling them a story that is either educational, entertaining or both.
This year, it’s the turn of entertainment – The Lowther Chicken Rap is about a chicken called Lizzee Rascal, who also happens to be a rap artist.
For some reason, this Easter holidays, Lizzee has found herself at Lowther Castle.
While her origins may be a little obscure, it is plain from the start of her journey that Lizzee is a rapper to her core, every feathery bit of her ingrained with the need to rhyme.
She bounces from Admissions to the Parterre, from the Parterre along the west side of the gardens, up into the woodland, over towards the Jack Croft Summerhouse and home to the Shop.
Everywhere Lizzee goes, she finds something to rhyme with something else.
The Lowther Easter Garden Trail is free with admission to the castle & gardens.
Each young entrant who cracks the code from the clues on the panels can claim an Eastery Eggy prize from Admissions.

Lowther Castle and Gardens
Of the many treasures waiting to be discovered in the English Lake District, Lowther Castle is a particular gem.
Built at the turn of the 19th century on the site of two previous houses, the castle was a grand affair boasting a room for every day of the year. Its gardens were the envy of the north.
But in 1957 the castle was demolished. Just the façade and outer walls remained standing and for over half a century, the place was empty – home only to chickens, pigs and the odd bat. The gardens were lost to wilderness.
Today Lowther Castle is one of the most intriguing visitor attractions in the country. Dramatic ruins, gardens within gardens and an adventure playground to rival the best in the land.
