Kendal Town suffered another setback to their play-off hopes last night when they went down 4-1 at Newcastle Blue Star.
Yet it was not a performance that deserved that sort of scoreline in defeat for they produced some good football, particularly in the first half only to find themselves 2-1 behind at half-time.
Sean Reid had given Blue Star a 2-0 lead with goals in the 15th and 29th minutes but Bailey Kenny gave Kendal the lifeline they were looking for just before half-time with a goal for the Mintcakes.
A third goal for Blue Star on the hour from Dan Stephenson made it tough for Kendal and although they kept plugging away the only other goal was in the 90th minute, again from Stephenson.
Kendal now find themselves in fifth, the final play-off position but only two points better off than Boro Rangers who have two games in hand.
