
Eight venues hosted the Dickie Smithson Knockout first matches in the John Peel Darts League.
Rosley beat Bridge End B 6-0; Tam O’Shanter beat Sun Inn C 6-3; Blackamoor were 6-3 winners against Wheatsheaf while Wigton Bowling Club got the better of Red Dial Arrows, winning 6-5.
Sun Inn A beat Oddfellows 6-0; Crown beat Letters A 6-5; Red Dial Sparrows beat Hare and Hounds 6-4 while Aspatria Bowling Club were the final team to progress beating Silloth Bowling Club 6-3.
Notable scores were notched-up by Jake Bennett, Hare & Hounds 180, while Mark Sloan, David Graham and Eddie Carrick all of Aspatria Bowling Club notched maximums.
Duggie James of Wigton Bowling Club had 160 Off and David Carr of Blackamoor had 117 and 100 Off.
It was a notable weekend for Aspatria Bowling Club as Stewart Reynolds made his County Debut and took the Man of The Match award.
Next week sees the quarter and semi-finals of the Dickie Smithson Memorial Trophy and the line-up and venues are: At Wigton Park BC – Rosley v Tam O’Shanter and Blackamoor v Wigton Bowling Club. At Letters Inn – Sun Inn A v Crown Inn and Red Dial Sparrows v Aspatria Bowling Club.
