Armed police were called to Kendal after reports of a stabbing.

Cumbria police said they were called at around 9.30am today, Friday April 3 to Aspen Close.

A man, in his 20s, sustained a stab wound to his hand. His injuries are not thought to be serious or life-threatening.

Police said enquiries were currently being carried out and people in the area may see a larger than usual police presence as searches are carried out.

Armed police have also been deployed as a precaution due to the nature of the assault.

Cumbria police added: “We would like to reassure people there is no perceived threat to the public at this time.”

Anyone with any information relating to the incident is asked to contact police on 999.
