Workington Reds will be without defender Jack Dickinson for this weekend’s Easter double header.
Dickinson had to be taken off during Saturday’s 3-0 win over Hednesford with a knee injury, and skipper Brad Carroll had to follow soon after.
Manager Billy Barr said: “Jack will be missing this weekend while we await results of a scan. We are hoping that it won’t be too bad and that he will be able to resume soon.
“As for Brad we are just waiting to see if he has any reaction to training last night and hoping he’s going to be fine.”
Keelan Leslie came on as a substitute for Dickinson and scored the third goal to round off a fine performance by the Reds, their ninth game unbeaten of which six have been victories.
That pushed the Reds out of the drop zone for the first time this year and there was another setback last night for Stocksbridge, who are bottom now and lost 2-1 to Cleethorpes.
But that also suggested Reds are in for a tough test in their next home game on Monday as Cleethorpes have come with a late run and have a chance of making the play-offs.
Barr said: “It was a good result for us last night and hopefully we can do our own work tomorrow at Warrington Rylands to help our own situation.”
Meanwhile, in the Northern League, the big game is at Parkside Road where Kendal Town entertain Penrith in a Cumbrian derby.
Kendal have slipped out of the play-off places so are looking for a big finish to the season to earn a place in the top five.
They are boosted tomorrow by the return of Niall Cowperthwaite who has been away on honeymoon. His return is described as “massive.”
Penrith’s results of late have not matched the performances and they have been matches against some of the leading teams in the league. Manager Jim Nichols will be making a late selection choice.
So too will Carlisle City boss Dan Kirkup for their game at in-form Newcastle Blue Star who have beaten both Kendal and Penrith recently.
Kirkup said: “We have a few injuries we need to assess today and whether it’s worth risking or not.
“It will be a case of managing the group over the next few games ahead of the cup final at the end of the season.”
Holders City will now play Kirkoswald in the final after Workington Reds were thrown out for fielding an ineligible player.
