Hensingham and Maryport A teams fitted in a Men’s League Cumbria Cup tie last night after the pitch had been passed unfit on Saturday.

It ended in an 18-0 win for the home side Hensingham after they had led 4-0 after a particularly tight, well-contested first-half.

Luke Clements scored the only unconverted try after seven minutes.

Three minutes into the second half Luca Hiddleston crossed for Hensingham’s second try and he added the conversion.

Liam Quail went in after 54 minutes and the final try came 11 minutes from time through Ollie Dunn, but both were unconverted.

They were two really young sides, playing in testing conditions, and putting on a great show of youthful talent.

They each had 20 players available and in Maryport’s case they had 10 of last year’s Under-16s playing.
