Barrow remained in the dop zone after a 1-0 home defeat by Chesterfield, a regular winning scoreline for the Spireites.
Since they returned to the Football League that’s the fourth game in a row that their clashes have finished with just the one goal, and in Chesterfield’s favour.
Unfortunately it was a mistake from goalkeeper Wyll Stanway which gifted James Berry with this particular winner in the 62nd minute.
There had been early chances for sides with Liam Mandeville missing the first for the visitors before Elliot Newby fired over the top for Barrow.
Sil Swinkels then headed just wide for Chesterfield but at the other end Barrow skipper Niall Canavan couldn’t get enough power on a header and it was easily saved by goalkeeper Ryan Boot.
On the resumption Newby had a second effort fly high, wide and not so handsome from a good position and it proved crucial as Chesterfield took the lead soon afterwards when Stanway presented Berry with an Easter present he gratefully accepted.
Stanway did redeem himself by keeping Barrow in with a shout of salvaging a point as he made a fine save to thwart Lee Bonis from close range and then denied Dylan Duffy in stoppage time.
Barrow are still next to bottom with five games to play – two tough ones away at Barnet and Cambridge with three at Holker Street against Oldham, Walsall and a potential drop-decider on the last day with Newport County.
