
A man airlifted to hospital after a collision on the M6 remains in a critical condition.
The two-vehicle collision, involving a HGV and a Seat Tarraco, happened at around 1.10pm yesterday, Tuesday April 7 on the southbound carriageway around half a mile before Junction 40 at Penrith.
The driver of the HGV was uninjured but a rear seat passenger of the Seat was taken to hospital via air ambulance with life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Seat was uninjured. Two other occupants suffered minor injuries.
A closure was in place until 7pm yesterday while police investigated the collision.
