There were wins in the Cumbria Men’s League County Cup for Wath Brow A, Lowca and Askam on Saturday.
Three games had to be called off because clubs did not have enough players to field an A team. Maryport, despite a massive list of absentees, fielded two teams – who both suffered heavy defeats.
The A team lost 60-4 to Lowca with man of the match Jordan Allen scoring four tries as the village side built a 42-0 half-time lead.
Jamie Scott, Addison Callander, Tom Spires, Charlie Ennis and Finn Barwise scored tries with Evan Hodgson adding a try and eight goals. Callum Toad scored Maryport’s try.
Wath Brow A were 38-14 winners against Aspatria in a game played at Silloth rugby union club.
The battle of the Hornets had started with Aspatria scoring a try to take the lead on seven minutes through Francis Dixon but by half time Wath Brow had gone 18-4 ahead.
The Brow went on to finish the game with seven tries from Brady Todd (2), man of the match Luke Davison, Daley Stables, Josh Ryan, Kaleb Crosby and Matt Sibbald. There were goals from Jenson Olstrom (4) and Crosby (1).
Jake Bennett and Brad Thomson scored the second-half tries, the first converted by Ben Tootill.
In the other game Askam beat Cockermouth 26-4 with tries from Alex Bowman, Morgan Cubbin, Dale Lambton, Tom Hopkins and Tom Wilkinson. Connor Saunders landed three conversions.
Rhys Forbes scored the Cockermouth try.
