
A Spitfire is set to fly over Cumbria today as part of celebrations to mark the aircraft’s 90th anniversary – and the route has been released.
The Spitfire 90th anniversary flight around the UK is an initiative by the Royal Air Force, led by the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, and Spitfires.com.
It began it series of nine flights – one for every decade – from Southampton on April 7. Each of the nine flights will also have an escort.
It is due to fly over Cumbria today April 13, where it is due to be escorted by two Hawk T2s.
Its route has been revealed as:

The Spitfire will leave Prestwick in Scotland at 10am, and the flight will take around an hour and 10 minutes to its destination, RAF Valley in Anglesey.
The flights are subject to weather conditions or other requirements.
