One meeting into the new season and Workington Comets have an injured rider.
Reserve Vinnie Foord sustained a knee injury in a fall at Redcar on Friday when the Comets lost 48-42 to the Bears in their match of the BSN Series.
Foord has subsequently been assessed in hospital and the word is that he has sustained a fracture to his knee.
He is due further appointments in the near future to determine the full extent of the injury and confirm the next steps in his recovery.
A Comets spokesman said this afternoon: “Vinnie has been advised a recovery period of approximately six to eight weeks and has already begun treatment.
“Everyone at the Comets wishes Vinnie a full and speedy recovery.”
The Comets, who ride next on Saturday afternoon against Scunthorpe, have the option of signing a short-term replacement or using guests at reserve until Foord returns.
That second consideration seems the most likely.
