A man was arrested and 12 people stop searched as police target drug dealing in the area of Allerdale.

The Allerdale Neighbourhood Policing Team worked yesterday, Wednesday April 15, with the local intelligence team to target drug dealing in the community.

The operation saw officers proactively stop search 12 individuals with three positive results.

Officers also arrested a 44-year-old man from Workington.

He was arrested on suspicion of driving a motor vehicle with a proportion of a specified controlled drug above the specified limit. He was released under investigation.

Inspector Adrian Dobson said “We were able to run this operation thanks to information supplied to us by our communities.

“We will continue to act where there is intelligence that individuals or groups are involved in drug dealing in their local community.

“Drugs and drug-related crime are extremely harmful to our communities and operations such as this are crucial to targeting those responsible.

“We rely on our communities to be our eyes and ears so that we can challenge and act on information relating to drug supply.

“If you suspect criminality is taking place in your neighbourhood then we want to hear from you so we can take action.”

You can report information about drug dealing in the community or think someone may be a victim of drug exploitation, quickly and easily online here. Or call us on 101.

Alternatively, you can contact independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
