Whitehaven renew their Championship challenge on Sunday at home to Hunslet.
They won their last Championship fixture with a superb late recovery at Goole Vikings two weeks ago, but crashed out of the 1895 Cup against the same opponents last week.
Head coach James Newton has been given a boost with the return to the squad of the influential Jordan Burns who has had a long injury lay-off.
His presence in the 21 named for Sunday, even if he doesn’t make the match day squad is a significant announcement which will undoubtedly lift his team-mates.
Although the first half an hour at Goole was poor, the second half effort by the Cumbrians to outscore their hosts was a positive response for Newton and his assistant Neil Frazer.
Kyle Trout has named only 19 players in his initial squad for Sunday’s game with new signings Jayden Hatton and Ant Walker included, along with Doncaster loan duo Isaac Misky and Jordan Baldwinson.
Cam Berry also returns following his HIA (Head Injury Assessment) but Mo Agoro is out with a hip issue and Jaden Barraclough is still missing with a groin strain.
Keelan Foster and Kevin Larroyer are still out long term. Darcy Simpson remains unavailable due to HIA (Head Injury Assessment) and McKenzie Tuner is still sidelined with a grade two hamstring tear.
