Workington Speedway have moved quickly to replace reserve Jamie Etherington, who was released yesterday.
They have signed young British rider Max Perry, who comes into the side to take the vacant reserve berth following the departure of Etherington.
Eighteen-year-old Perry, from Hungerford, rode for Glasgow last season and narrowly missed out on securing a Championship place at the start of the current campaign but now gets his opportunity with the GT Tyres-sponsored Comets.
The promotion believe he has the capability to score the necessary points from the reserve position and strengthen the team in that department.
The young Brit also brings with him a positive record around Northside’s GT Tyres Arena, a track he enjoys and has shown good form on previously, which is expected to help him settle quickly into the side.
Promoter Andrew Bain said: “Max is someone we’ve been keeping an eye on, and when the opportunity came up we felt it was the right move for both the rider and the club.

“He’s shown he can compete at this level and we believe he can come in and score the points we need from reserve.
“He’s hungry to get going and he also has a good track record around Northside, and we’re confident he’ll settle in quickly and make a positive contribution to the team.”
Max will make his Comets debut this Friday, May 1, away at Scunthorpe in the BSN Series, subject to BSPL approval.
