Only three games were played in the West Cumberland Sunday League at the weekend – and they were in three different competitions.
In the Premier Division Moresby Rangers clinched runners-up spot with a 2-0 win at Dearham Commercial with both goals from Ellis Trotter.
Sun Inn could have made sure of runners-up position in Division One with a win over Swan but they went down 5-2 – although they still have the chance to overcome Mirehouse Juniors if they win their final game.
Kieran McCluskey and Ben Allan scored the goals for Sun Inn but Swan went home with the points courtesy of goals from Thomas Husband, Jack Pears, Aiden White, Darren Rowley and Daniel Wood.
Mirehouse were in action but it was a League Cup group game in which they were comfortable 7-1 winners over King’s Arms.
Jordan Priestley (2), Cyran Corlett (2), Kian Sim, Braydon Walmsley and Liam Elliot supplied the goals.
The Sunday County Cup final this season is a good old-fashioned west v east clash with Northside lining-up against Denton Holme at Penrith’s Frenchfield on Sunday, kick-off 11am.
