Nicola McMaster and Sadie Wilson with Silver Dream winner of Seniors at West Woodburn and Doug Watkin presenting the Carlisle Border Supporters Trophy, for senior with most points over the two races at the venue.

Last night saw a return to West Woodburn for the second time where 33 hounds turned out over the four grade meeting.

Only three were entered in the Seniors with Darren and Julie McMaster and Anthony Skelton’s inform and current senior championship leader Silver Dream the hot favourite.

She set off with intent and was racing on well with Sarah and Baz Harper and the late Hartley Robinson’s Delta Fortune.

They are seen later climbing up by the wall where Delta Fortune had gained a ten yard lead on Silver Dream who in turn had a 50-yard lead over Sarah White and Elsie Horn’s Flightline.

Reports came in from the first road crossing where Silver Dream had gone back to the front and had a small lead over Delta Fortune and Flightline.

Once they started heading for home Silver Dream was leading ahead of Delta Fortune but the 2025 puppy champion made a miss and put himself out of the race.

Appearing on the finish Silver Dream had established a big lead and went on to claim victory number seven of the season and there was a two minute gap to the only other finisher Flightline.

The Pups were next to go with a slip of 11 and favourite Martin and Molly Burrow, Ian Freyne, Ger and Jennifer Kenneally’s Thorn Daisy set off strongly along  with Anna and Kerry Lindsay and Janie McAulay’s Zinger and George McGimpsy, Gillian, Millie and Charlie Telford’s Charlie’s Dream.

Throughout the race Zinger was leading but had strong competition from Duncan, Amy, Oliver, Liam, Eleanor Chisholm, Harry Turner and Brian Graham’s Let Me Try Again with the pair both pushing each other on well.

Once they showed onto the finish Let Me Try Again was leading ahead of Sadie, Kessi, and Graham Wilson’s Cinderella and Zinger.

But nearing the line Zinger drove to the front to win from Let Me Try Again. Cinderella was third but ran slightly off the trod on the finish causing her to lose a small amount of ground.

Charlie’s Dream finished fourth ahead of Paul Airey, Joanne, Sophie and Lauren Hodgson’s Meadow Rose while the final ticket went to Christopher Henderson’s Bash On.

A field of 10 lined up for the Veteran race with Linda Neale, Mark, Josh and Georgia Bryden’s Eagle Rock heading the betting having never been beaten at the venue.

Once away Eagle Rock and Jim, Ann, Alan and Adrian Little’s Huntsman’s Quantum were off to a flyer and battling it out at the front.

George Burgon and Mr Mally.

Reports came in from when the hounds are out of sight and Huntsman’s Quantum had gone ahead of Eagle Rock and Andy and Alan Horn and Simon Walker’s Overwater Louie.

Appearing onto the finish John Lyon’s Black Eyed Shadow was leading ahead of Eagle Rock and there was a good battle to the line.

But it was Eagle Rock who got up late on to win and go seven points clear in the Veteran championship on 19 points from Black Eyed Shadow who finished second on the night.

George Burgon and Carole Logan’s Overwater Hunter finished in third ahead of Malcolm Holmes’ Sir Robert; Willie and Craig Mark’s Summer Spirit and David Clifford’s Eden Romina.

The final race of the night was the All-In with a line up off nine and was won by George Burgon and Carole Logan’s Mr Mally to round off a good night for the pair with Kerry and Anna Lindsay’s Discover in second and Meadow Artisan in third.

Racing resumes tomorrow at Standing Stones for a four grade meeting (Seniors, Pups, Open Maidens, Open Restricted). Seniors slip at 1pm.
