Workington Reds had the fourth best average attendance across the whole Northern Premier League.
They were third in the Premier Division, but the trio all finished behind the West Division champions Bury, who continued their battle to regain Football League status after their move back to Gigg Lane.
The Shakers had an average attendance of 3,698 almost twice the total registered by Hednesford who have reached the Premier Division play-off final against Warrington Rylands.
Hednesford’s average was 1,956 and they were followed by FC United of Manchester, 1874; Workington, whose brilliant last day crowd boosted the average to 921 and Warrington Town 819.
Phil Norman, Reds chairman said: “To improve our average crowd when we have spent a large part of the season at the bottom of the table is phenomenal and a credit to our supporters.”
Reds are already looking ahead to next season and have announced a new main shirt sponsor for 2026/27.
MPL Motor Factors of Whitehaven will partner with the club for the forthcoming season and their logo will take pride of place on the new kit now being supplied by HOPE + GLORY.
Mark Farragher, director of MPL Motor Factors, said: “It’s a real pleasure to be announced as the main sponsor of my local club.
“As a long-time supporter, this is something that means a lot to me personally. When Paul and I spoke about supporting the club through MPL, it felt like a natural fit.
“Football here isn’t just a game — it’s a huge part of the West Cumbrian community, bringing people together and creating a real sense of pride.
“This sponsorship isn’t just about kits and equipment. It’s about backing the club, the fans, and the wider community around it.
“As a business, we’re proud to support local sport at all levels, and to play a small part in something that brings so many people together.
“With MPL continuing to grow across the area, it made sense for us to get behind a club that represents the community so strongly. Seeing families, supporters and local people turn out week in, week out is exactly what makes this club special.
“We’re proud to be part of it, and we’re looking forward to what’s ahead — both for the club and as a partnership.”
Reds vice chairman Richard Lewthwaite added: “We are absolutely delighted that Mark and Paul have agreed to strengthen their partnership with the club.
“They have supported us for several years now in hospitality and with pitch side advertising and this agreement shows both their ambition to grow their own brand but also to support the West Cumbrian community.”
