
Maryport Athletic had lost a penalty shootout in mid-week at Dearham to forgo a semi-final place in the Whitehaven Cup.
They had to go to a spot kick decider in their follow-up game with Workington Juniors in the Ken Glover Memorial competition.
Owen Birkett had given Workington a half-time lead but Maryport levelled through Cieran Booty and this time Athletic made no mistake from the penalty spot, winning 4-2.
Their big Premier Division rivals new champions Unisun Athletic also got through with two first-half goals from Liam Graham and Ellis Dickinson enough to beat Whitehaven Miners.
In the Premier Division Keswick got off the bottom with a gritty 2-2 draw at Cockermouth with goals from Brad Fearns and Ryan Sibley.
Luke Graham scored both for Cockermouth.
Two Division One games completed the Saturday programme with Northbank and Bransty Rangers both collecting maximum points.
Northbank were 5-0 winners at Whitehaven Miners Development as Charlie Riley (3), Louis Titterington and Harry Doswell found the target.
It was harder work for Bransty, beating Windscale reserves 4-2 with a brace apiece from Liam O’Pray and Spike Canavan. Harry Hodgson and Jack Wordsworth netted for the Atoms.
There are three games scheduled for Wednesday night – all cup games, and at quarter final, semi-final and final stages.
It’s the Benevolent Cup final at the Falcon Complex, Egremont between Maryport Athletic and Mirehouse (ko 7pm).
Contesting the semi-final of the League Cup 2nd Tier are Keswick, who entertain Cleator Moor Celtic reserves.
The quarter final is in the Whitehaven Cup where Premier Division Whitehaven Miners Social entertain Bransty Rangers of the First Division.
