
Workington’s Hall Garden will be officially opened this week.
The space, formerly the Greenhouse in Hall Park, has been developed by charity West House and will feature community growing spaces, a cafe and creative opportunities.
It will support people with learning difficulties gain skills and confidence.
Hall Garden will welcome visitors every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 4pm.
At Hall Garden, visitors can enjoy freshly prepared food and drink, explore the gardens, and browse products created through West House’s supported employment and training initiatives.
James Cox, CEO of West House, said: “Hall Garden is about creating opportunities and bringing people together. It’s a space where people can feel welcome, spend time, and see the skills and talents of the people we support.
“This project shows what’s possible when we invest in inclusive, community-led spaces. We’re proud to be part of the wider transformation happening in Workington and excited to open the doors to everyone.”
Cumberland Council leader Mark Fryer said: “Hall Garden is a fantastic addition to Workington and a great example of how our regeneration projects are creating real benefits for local communities.
“Through Government funding, we are investing in spaces that make our towns more welcoming, accessible and vibrant.
“It is especially pleasing to see a project that not only enhances the area but also provides inclusive opportunities and support for local people.”
The project is part of the town’s wider Ramsay Brow regeneration work by Cumberland Council and funded by the Government.
