Spencer Street A produced a composed and clinical performance to defeat Second Division champions Upperby and retain the Downie Fours title in the Carlisle and District Billiards League.

In a final played throughout in excellent spirit at the Buffs club in Carlisle they emerged 3-1 winners.

The opening frame was one-way traffic as Rob Woods and Allan Stoton stamped their authority early.

Combining tight safety with confident scoring, they pulled clear and never looked back, running out convincing 75–14 winners to give Spencer Street A the perfect start.

Upperby hit back in the second through Simon Elston and Paul Scott, who showed great composure to level the match.

Taking their chances well and keeping control at key moments, they secured the frame 64–38, ensuring the final remained finely poised at 1–1.

With momentum in the balance, the third frame proved pivotal—and it was once again Woods and Stoton who delivered.

Reasserting their control with another assured display, closing out a 63–35 victory to move Spencer Street A within one frame of the title.

That left the final frame in the hands of Mike Griffiths and Rob Barbour.

Showing calmness under pressure, they controlled proceedings from mid-frame onwards and sealed the win 57–22, confirming a deserved triumph for Spencer Street A.
