The draw has been made for the British Under-21 Qualifier at Leicester on Sunday May 24.

Included in the line-up is Workington’s new reserve Max Perry and Jamie Etherington, the rider he replaced in Workington Comets line-up.

Eight riders have already been seeded to the June 7 final at Redcar, and they will be joined by the top eight scorers at the Hydroscand Arena, Beaumont Park.

The meeting features four current Cab Direct Championship riders, including former Lion Cubs rider Cooper Rushen who also appears in this season’s top-flight.

Current Leicester youngsters Ryan Ingram, Max Perry and Seth Norman are joined by former Fox Cub Jordy Loftus amongst the qualification hopefuls.

Vinnie Foord, currently out of the Workington team with injury, is one of tyhose riders seeded straight to the final and he hopes to be back in action before then.

Former members of the initial Comets line-up in the National Development League, Luke Harrison and Ace Pijper are also seeded straight through to the Redcar final.

  • Draw: 1 Lee Harrison, 2 Stene Pijper, 3 Jordy Loftus, 4 Jamie Etherington, 5 Kenzie Cossey, 6 Ollie Binns, 7 Seth Norman, 8 Ashton Vale 9 Cooper Rushen, 10 Senna Summers, 11 Max Perry, 12 Harrison Rogers, 13 Harry Fletcher, 14 Charlie Southwick, 15 Harry Sadler, 16 Ryan Ingram. Reserves: 17 Owen Booth, 18 Laylen Richardson.
  • Seeded to final: Luke Harrison, Luke Killeen, Will Cairns, Jody Scott, Ace Pijper, Ben Trigger, Vinnie Foord, Freddy Hodder.

Meanwhile, Scunthorpe have released long-serving Simon Lambert and replaced him with Dan Gilkes.

The 37-year-old Lambert rode for the Workington Comets during their old Derwent Park days in 2014 and has been with the Scorpions for the last seven years.

Scorpions made their move after Gilkes was not put back into the Poole team following his recovery from a knee injury, and he will make his debut for his new club when they race at Berwick on Saturday.

Promoter Rob Godfrey said: “Replacing Simon was always going to be a tough call for myself. Simon has become like family to us and the club, but we felt that we needed to inject something into the team.

“I watched Dan on his comeback at Leicester, and whilst he didn’t score a great deal, he made some really good starts and led three races.

“Speaking to David Howe, we both thought that he looked like a rider who has just not raced enough for a while but given a few more rides will give us some firepower at reserve.”
