Cumberland Council said it is working to reopen a coastal trail cliff path following significant landslips.
A three kilometre stretch of path between St Bees South Head and Fleswick Bay has been closed since December, after a cliff face collapsed and another landslip further along the trail was reported.
Areas of the path have been reduced to a narrow width with a possibility of further collapse making the path unsafe.

A temporary closure order was issued by the council which remains in place today alongside a diversion route for walkers.
The path forms part of both the Coast to Coast trail and the King Charles III England Coast Path National Trail, which opened in March.
A Cumberland Council spokesman said: “The council is working with Natural England and the landowners to support the safe reopening of the path following the landslip/cliff fall in December.

“While it is not yet possible to confirm a reopening timescale, the temporary closure will remain in place, with a diversion route available for users.”
Whitehaven Coastguard Rescue Team also urged walkers earlier this year to obey the closure for their safety, as warmer weather arrives and makes it more likely for walkers to attempt the route.
