At an informal gathering of at Whitehaven Library, successful adult learners were presented with their certificates by course tutor Nigel Cannar, of Carlisle.
The learners had embarked on a computer skills course to keep in touch with the developing world and communicate more successfully with the younger generation.
During the 12-week course, held in the Harbour Project rooms on Swingpump Lane, Whitehaven, they tackled Microsoft Word, Excel and computer file management which culminated in a 90-minute exam of computer skills covering the three sections of the adult learners course.
The three able to attend the presentation were retired florist and flower arranger, Celia Devine, of Whitehaven; Anne Reay, of Frizington, retired civil servant and retired UK Atomic Energy physicist, Gerard McCarten, of Whitehaven.
Bev Preston, of Whitehaven, another successful candidate, was unable to attend as she pursued her first love as a professional artist and lecturer.
Bill Holliday, of Moresby Parks, a retired mine worker, began but was unable to complete the course due to a heart attack.
Bill was fortunate to have a friend with him at the time who had the skill to apply CPR. He has made a full recovery.
