A Penrith man is due to be sentenced next month for possession of an imitation firearm and threatening to damage a town takeaway.
Blake Stuart, 32, of Stricklandgate, pleaded guilty to three offences when he appeared at Carlisle Crown Court this morning.
Stuart admitted possession of an imitation firearm — a BB gun — with intent to cause a man to believe that unlawful violence would be used against him or another.
A second crime admitted by Stuart involves him making to the same man a threat to destroy or damage Penrith’s MyKebab takeaway on Middlegate in the town centre.
Stuart further admitted the attempted intimidation of a second man during which he is said to have made threats and asked him to “drop the case”.
All three offences, the court heard, were committed on April 12 this year.
Recorder Ciaran Rankin adjourned the case and asked for the probation service to prepare a pre-sentence report which provides more information about the defendant.
Stuart is due to receive his punishment at the crown court on June 17, and in the meantime he remains remanded in custody.
- Stuart pleaded not guilty to an allegation of racially aggravated harassment, alarm or distress. This was accepted by the prosecution. The charge will not be proceeded with, and instead will lie on he court file.
