A walker suffered a panic attack while attempting a Lake District ridge.
The man was part of a group of four who were attempting to traverse Sharp Edge on Blencathra on Sunday, May 17.
Keswick Mountain Rescue Team was called out by Cumbria police at around 2pm to help the four men, who had become stuck.
The team said: “The initial report indicated that one member of the party was suffering a severe panic attack.
“Due to the notoriously slick and polished nature of the slate terrain, the entire group was frozen and unable to move forward or retreat safely.
“The team quickly deployed from Scales and ascended to the top of Blencathra.
“Upon reaching the summit plateau, a rope system was rigged and two team members were lowered to assess the anxious casualties.
“All four men were successfully safeguarded back to safe ground on the summit plateau before being advised of an easier, alternate walking route back to the valley.”
