Workington Comets number one Jonas Jeppesen has signed for new boys Northampton Foxes and is set for his ROWE Motor Oil Premiership debut against Leicester tomorrow.

Jeppesen has starred for Workington in the second tier this season and he now joins the Foxes taking the place of Matej Zagar who is on the sidelines with a broken ankle.

It means the newcomers will have two debutants this week with Niels-Kristian Iversen making his first appearance after his UK season was delayed by a punctured lung.

Manager Chris Adams said: “We wish Matej all the best and a speedy recovery, but with him on the sidelines and already having Niels missing for the first part of the season, we thought it best to get a replacement for the time being.

“I’ve known Jonas from last year with my time at Birmingham and I know he’s a good rider and team man. He’s been going well for Workington this year and I’m sure he can do a good job for us here at the Foxes.

“With having two of his fellow countrymen in the side and also riding in the same team as Troy Batchelor (at Workington) I’m sure he will have no trouble settling in.”
