
Morrisons has announced it will close 100 of its loss-making convenience stores.
The supermarket said following a review it was shutting its Morrisons Daily stores due to a challenging business environment, including cost increases and staff costs.
It has around 1,700 Morrison Daily stores across the country and 700 are run as franchises.
The franchises are not affected by the decision and Morrisons said it would continue to expand the franchise side of the business.
Cumbria has 14 Morrisons Daily stores – in 2022 the supermarket chain saved McColl’s from collapse and rebranded its stores. It is not clear how many are run as a franchise.
