Cumbria will travel to Sussex next weekend for the semi-final of the Gill Burns County Women’s Championship.
Already qualified Cumbria were waiting for the result from Pool 3 to find out their hosts.
In the end Sussex earned the semi-final home slot with a close 22-17 win at Middlesex.
Head coach Ally Radcliffe said: “We knew it was going to be a long trek in the semi-final which is why we have been fundraising since winning our group.
“We need roughly £5,000 for each game in the south to cover travel and overnight stay.
“We have currently raised around £3,000 through various fundraising schemes – a Spot the Ball competition, a GoFundMe page and one for sponsorship packages.
“Two years ago we got to the final at Twickenham and the experience of being in the changing rooms, walking onto the pitch and enjoying post-match celebrations inside the home of rugby is something I will never forget and hope to share with the current team.”
