Drivers are urged to avoid the A591 near Kendal following a collision.
The road was closed in both directions at Prizet earlier today.
At 8.35am, the southbound carriageway is now open but the northbound carriageway remains closed.
Emergency services are currently at the scene today, Tuesday May 26 at around 7.10am.
