In the women’s competition, Carlisle claimed the Plate with a strong victory over Wigton, while Durham Palatinates defeated Durham Knights (22-10) to lift the Women’s Cup.
The Men’s Plate was won by Carlisle, who beat Stewartry.
The Men’s Cup Final closed the rugby for the day and was an awesome game of power hits, aggressive dynamic runs and a worthy last game of the competition.
Six 7s triumphed 31-14 over Friars Old Boys in an exciting final.
The organising Carlisle club thanked main sponsor Lamont Pridmore, along with key partners Park Gate, Hardtech, Cumbria Marquees, and Walby Farm. Their backing helped create an accessible and enjoyable event that contributes to the long-term growth of rugby across Cumbria.

Friday evening’s opening fixtures set a positive tone for the weekend.
A landmark match between Cumbria Rams Vets (rugby union) and Carlisle Masters (rugby league) successfully bridged the two codes of the sport, followed by a spirited clash between Young Farmers and Annandale.

Both games fostered friendship and collaboration between different communities and codes which set the positive spirit for the weekend.
With live music, a brilliant atmosphere, and high-quality rugby on display, the tournament continues to serve as an important platform for growing participation and interest in rugby throughout Cumbria.

The event provides valuable competitive opportunities for local and regional teams while attracting supporters who can watch rugby in the sunshine while experiencing Carlisle’s warm hospitality.
Carlisle Dance Academy performed throughout the day.

Graham Kidd, Carlisle’s head coach and part of the team of six highly qualified referees who officiated the tournament said: “Our goal with the Border City 7s is to showcase fast flowing exciting rugby and bring together men’s and women’s teams from the north of England and Scotland to experience sevens rugby in Carlisle.
“Next year’s tournament promises to build further on this success and expand its positive impact on rugby development in the region.”
