Cumbria League Premier Division leaders Whitehaven will stage the match of the day on Saturday.

They host second in the table Keswick who trail them by just three points.

Whitehaven’s new pro Kevin Perere made an impressive debut last week and with some promising youngsters around him the club has a confident, vibrant side at the moment.

Keswick suffered a shock defeat at Wigton and crashed out of the Higson Cup the following day but are still very much in the title race at this early stage.

They were back to winning way last weekend against Millom, successfully defending another low Fitz Park score.

Cockermouth lost ground in the league when they were beaten by Workington but did reach the semi-final of the Higson Cup last week with a win over Millom.

They entertain bottom side Carlisle 2nds knowing  a win would push them into second place.

Carlisle are still adjusting to the step up to the Premier Division although they did manage a 200-plus score in defeat last week in the Higson Cup.

Champions Furness complete the top four and tackle Wigton at home – a side who can cause problems on their day.

Millom versus Cleator and Dalton v Workington complete the day’s Preioer Division fixtures.

This week’s cricket interview features Cockermouth’s senior player Gareth White talking to Cumbria Crack’s John Walsh. Hear their chat below:
