A man has been sentenced to three years in prison for drugs and weapons offences.
Martin Gunn, 34, of no fixed abode, was sentenced at Carlisle Crown Court on Monday for possession of an offensive weapon, possession with intent to supply class A drugs, being concerned in the supply of class A drugs and dangerous driving
The court heard how at 11.45am on March 13 this year, police stopped a vehicle that Gunn was driving in Ambleside.
When asked for his name, he provided false details initially before making off from officers.
After a short foot pursuit, he was detained and arrested.
A search of his vehicle was then conducted, and officers located a large quantity of what was later found to be cocaine inside the vehicle and a knife in the driver’s side door pocket.

DC Ewan Breeze, of Westmorland and Furness Community and Serious Organised Crime team, said: “This sentence reflects the strength of proactive policing.
“It also highlights our continued commitment to identifying and bringing to justice those involved in drug dealing.
“Cumbria police will remain focused on disrupting and tackling drug supply at every level.”
