Workington Reds have signed former Carlisle United midfielder Jake Allan on a permanent deal.

Allan, who will be 20 next month, has spent part of each of the last three seasons in loan arrangements with the Reds.

Reds manager Billy Barr told Cumbria Crack: “I’m absolutely delighted to get Jake over the line.

“It was a difficult season for him in the one just ended as he missed so many games.

“He started his first game on March 7 away at Guiseley and never really looked back.

“He played in various positions and chipped in with two goals, one in the big win over Hednesford and then on that memorable day when we secured our League status at Warrington Town.

“He turns 20 in a few weeks but has already racked up quite a few games in a Workington shirt.

“Hopefully he can stay injury free next season and add to his current appearances.”

The club said: “Since first arriving from Carlisle United, Jake has become a familiar face to Reds supporters, bringing energy, quality and commitment every time he’s pulled on the shirt.

“Now, following his release from Carlisle United, we’re delighted to confirm that Jake has signed permanently with the club ahead of the 2026/27 season.

“Having already made a real impact during his time at Borough Park, we’re pleased to secure Jake’s services on a permanent basis as we continue to build for the season ahead.”
