Brannon Utting McBride

A West Cumbrian 18-year-old described as a blight on the community has been sentenced to a total of 30 months in a young offenders institution.

Brannon Utting McBride, of Windsor Road, Workington, was convicted for burglary and assaulting a prison officer.

At Carlisle Crown Court, he was sentenced to 15 months in a young offenders institution for each offence.

Allerdale police also secured a criminal behaviour order.

It means McBride cannot:

  • Touch or enter any motor vehicle/mechanically propelled vehicle or pedal cycle that belongs to another unless he is a paying passenger or has the owner’s express permission.
  • Wear a face covering in public unless there is a medical reason to wear a mask.
  • Enter Asda on Mossbay Road in Workington
  • Enter KFC om Bessemer Way in Workington
  • Enter Morrisons Daily on Harrington Road in Workington

Allerdale police said: “The order comes after a prolonged period of offending by McBride whose conduct has been a blight on the Workington community over the past 18 months.

“The sentence given and the order issued will now offer much needed respite for the community.

“We will continue to pursue such individuals and hold them to account for their actions, with this outcome serving as a warning to those who think they are immune from being held to account whether it be due to age or other circumstances.

“Your offending will eventually catch up with you and will have significant consequences.”

The punishment for breaching an order can be up to five years in prison.
