West Cumbrian speedway star Dan Bewley has admitted he cannot put a date on his racing return as he continues his injury recovery.
The Maryport-based Grand Pris rider crashed in the opening race of Danish club Region Varde’s Speedwayligaen match at home to Slangerup on May 20, suffering a broken femur and a compressed vertebra in his back.
Bewley has missed the past three Speedway GP events and will also sit out the DEWALT FIM Speedway GP of Poland – Wroclaw this Saturday on his PGE Ekstraliga home track.
In a video posted on Wroclaw’s social media channels, Bewley issued an update on his road to recovery.
He said: “Hello everybody, I just want to check in and talk about my physio. I have been training and everything has been going pretty well.
“I am just taking it day by day at the moment and it’s tough to say when I will be back.
“It has been nice supporting the rest of the team. They had a good meeting in Czestochowa. I was looking forward to coming to the stadium last Sunday (for the postponed Gorzow match), but I will be there for the next meeting.
“It has been good watching. Obviously, I would rather be racing, but hopefully I will be back soon, and thank you everyone for the support.”
