A cockerel found wandering on a West Cumbrian town’s street has been given a new home.
Allerdale Police posted on social media on Saturday that the bird had been spotted on Workington’s Cumberland Street.
Officers appealed for its owner to come forward – as there are allotments nearby.
They said: “We hope he has not accidentally flown the coop and would like him to find his original owner and home.”
Yesterday, they said: “Thanks to some close community working between Allerdale Police and an upstanding member of public, we were able to find a new home for our feathered friend with lots of friends at a near by allotment.
“Allerdale police would like to thank this member of the public for giving him a safe new home.”
