[C]umbria County Council is pleased to be hosting a Garden Party Swap Shop at Wigton Library between 9.30am and 12.00pm on Tuesday 9 May.
People can donate their surplus seeds, plants, tools and garden items, and pick up some second hand bargains. There will also be a variety of local organisations providing advice on composting, bird houses and planters, and a children’s activity on recycling. Home-made refreshments will also be available to purchase in support of Watchtree Nature Reserve and there will be a wide collection of gardening books to browse and borrow.
Free 4 All is a community recycling project which takes donations of all kinds to re-sell to the community. They accept almost anything from furniture to children’s toys and offer a free collection service. Free 4 All will be present at the Wigton Garden Party and will be accepting donations of garden items in useable condition. They’ll also have lots of items to browse and take away. Please see the attached leaflet for details on what sort of items they can accept.
Recycle for Cumbria will also be on hand with lots of information and tips for home composting. Have a look at some of the different compost bins available and get your compost questions answered. There will also be lots of ideas for transforming your garden with recycled materials and a competition to win £50 of garden vouchers.
