Dragon Bay

[T]he fourth annual Dragon Bay will be held on Sunday 10th September 2017. This is an exciting opportunity for businesses and families to raise money whilst having fun.

Dragon Bay is an annual charity dragon boat race taking place on Lake Windermere, in the shadow of the Langdale Pikes at Low Wood Watersports Centre. The event is a joint venture between CBA Events and English Lakes Hotels in support of Paddlers for Life.

The event was originally set up by Paddlers for Life, a charity supporting cancer survivors. Paddlers for Life aim to alleviate the effects of cancer treatment by rehabilitation activities, notably dragon boating to reduce the effects of lymphedema. This year, Paddlers for Life are celebrating their 10th anniversary, and are looking for teams to take part in their annual fundraising event Dragon Bay.

CBA Events is a local event management company based at Keswick. They provide free venue finding, event management, AV and teambuilding throughout the UK and Europe. CBA Events are working in partnership with Paddlers for Life and English Lakes Hotels and are looking for 18 teams to sign up and take part in the event. The teams can comprise of family members, colleagues, or groups of friends. Teams consist of 16 people, 2 reserves and 1 drummer, and each team raises sponsorship for their chosen charity. It’s a great way to have fun, whilst raising money for your chosen charity.

There will be entertainment throughout the day for both spectators and participants, including a beach party DJ and a tug-o-war competition. The winning team will be awarded a trophy, whilst all participant will receive a Dragon Bay medal. There will also be prizes for the best fancy dress.

All teams who enter the competition will receive a free evening training session prior to the event. CBA Events will provide all safety equipment, and safety boats and crew will be on the water during the event. A photographer will be on site during the day and images will be shared on social media.

The event costs just £31.32 per person (£595 per team). The cost covers all equipment hire, event management, car parking for up to five cars per teams, and a small donation to Paddlers for Life, the founder of Dragon Bay. Each team will be allocated a space on the field to position a gazebo for their team base. Make sure you sign up soon as spaces are limited.
