Carlisle Crown Court

[A] KENDAL man is facing a prison sentence after he admitted a class A drug supply crime.

Ben Simmonite, 26, appeared at Carlisle Crown Court today (TUES).

During a short hearing before Judge Peter Davies, Simmonite pleaded guilty to possessing heroin with intent to supply it to another.

The offence is said to have occurred in the Kendal area on February 26 last year.

Judge Davies adjourned the case until September 7, when sentence will be passed. Simmonite, of Broad Ing Crescent, Kendal, was granted bail in the meantime.

But the judge warned him: “You mustn’t take from that there won’t be a custodial sentence, do you understand?”

From the dock, Simmonite replied: “Fully understand.”

A woman will be also sentenced at the crown court on that date in connection with the same offence.

Sian Cherie Benson, also 26, formerly of Broad Ing Crescent, Kendal, admitted a charge of possessing heroin with intent to supply during a hearing at the crown court in February.
