[S]unday’s National Hunt meeting at Carlisle Racecourse has been abandoned due to frozen ground.
This follows a course inspection which took place this afternoon (Saturday).
Geraldine McKay, Carlisle Racecourse’s General Manager, said: “Having re-inspected the course this afternoon, it is still frozen and with the forecast now seeing temperatures drop to -3 overnight, we have taken the decision to abandon racing.
“This follows a week or more of very cold weather, with the track being frozen for most of the past five days.
“All pre-booked tickets will be automatically refunded.”
The next race meeting at Carlisle will be on Wednesday February 7th 2018.
