StreetSafe events underway to engage with local communities

[P]olice in the South Lakes are conducting StreetSafe events with partner agencies to engage with local communities.

Over the past two weeks PCSOs have spoken with people in Kendal and Sedbergh to identify any issues or concerns local people have concerning crime, anti-social behaviour or quality of life in their local area.

Forms have been handed out to residents for them to fill in and send back their comments.

The StreetSafe events are supported by South Lakeland District Council, Cumbria County Council and Cumbria Fire & Rescue Service.

Similar events will take place in Kirkby Lonsdale and Barbon over the next week.

Sergeant Suzanne Scott-O’Neill said: “These StreetSafe events play a vital role in our ability to engage with the communities we serve.

“It is our hope that members of the public offer their feedback so any local issues or concerns they may have can be looked into and addressed.

“I’d encourage anyone that receives a form to please complete them and send back with the prepaid envelope.”

Cumbria’s Police and Crime Commissioner Peter McCall said: “This is a great opportunity for people to share their views about any issues of concern in their local area – the Police need to hear what residents have to say, because without this feedback they can’t do anything about it!  So please do take part if you can, and  help to make a difference in your community.”
