Julia Aglionby

There’s an opportunity to meet Carlisle LibDems’ new parliamentary candidate next week.

Julia Aglionby will be holding a public meeting at the Stanwix Community Association on the evening of Thursday September 26 at 7.00pm. You are invited to come and hear what Julia stands for and opportunities to work together to demand better for Carlisle and the UK.

Julia has spent her adult life living and working in Cumbria. Based at Carlisle’s Livestock Auction for 22 years as a land agent she is also a part-time Professor at the University of Cumbria. Julia is no stranger to dealing with Government Ministers through her last five years as a Natural England Board Member and her campaigning for England’s Uplands.

Julia is active in the local community as a trustee of a local Care Farm, with a local Refugee Network, her church and has run Rainbow Guides in Carlisle.

Julia’s proven ability in, and commitment to, campaigning for the common good, for her community, for our beautiful County of Cumbria and the local environment, makes her an ideal candidate when it comes to standing up for local issues and delivering change in Westminster.

Julia says; “I’m honoured and delighted to be the Liberal Democrat candidate for Carlisle. Carlisle is my City and my home and my community. The Liberal Democrats are the only choice for a better future for our schools, hospitals, economy and environment.”

She says: “As a mother of two teenagers born in the Cumberland Infirmary and educated in state schools, as well as having a mother facing a long delay for an operation, I understand the issues facing families in Carlisle. The services I used to receive from the NHS and schools are no longer deliverable as funds have dried up. Health workers and teachers are under unbearable pressure. I will do everything in my power to change that.”
