Officers are appealing for witnesses following a road traffic collision which occurred on the northbound carriageway of the A74(M) near Junction 18, Lockerbie, this morning.

At approx 5.45am on Monday 25 November 2019 a northbound articulated lorry collided with the central reservation barrier just south of Lockerbie and then left the road.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

The road was closed to allow a crash scene investigation to take place and to recover the vehicle.

Inspector Campbell Moffat from Roads Policing said: “We are appealing to anyone who may have been on the A74(M) motorway this morning to get in touch if they saw this crash.

“We have been made aware from another witness that two men in a white coloured van, possibly a Mercedes Sprinter, travelling northbound, stopped at the scene at the time of the crash this morning. We would like to speak to these two men and would ask that they get in touch.

“We would also be keen to hear from anyone who may have captured any dash-cam footage of the crash, or the northbound lorry just prior to the crash.

“Anyone with any information should call police on the 101 number and quote the reference number 0454 25 November 2019.”
