This dramatic photograph shows four of United Utilities’ major projects engineering team standing in front of four 13 tonne, five metre tall valves which are part of the Hallbank pipeline project near Kendal in Cumbria. Shown from left to right are Sean Greenwood, John Hilton, Mike Addison and John Dawson.
The team took time out to capture this unique photograph which was only made possible for a brief moment in time before these giant valves were connected up to four 1.6 metre diameter drinking water pipes.
The Hallbank pipeline project is part of the wider Haweswater Aqueduct Resilience Programme which is scheduled to begin in 2023 to secure the water supply for Cumbria, Lancashire and Manchester for many years to come.
