Halloween Fun on Alston Moor

Following the phenomenal success in May, Alix Martin, Claire Worboys and Raymond Miller thought they would try and cheer up Alston again with the idea of Halloween Scarecrows, pumpkins and children’s fancy dress competitions.

Normally there are Halloween parties and a lot of children enjoy ‘trick or treating’ around the doors. But as it looks likely that they won’t be allowed to do this, Alix, Raymond and Claire thought it would be a good idea to try something different this year.

Raymond has managed to get to local businesses Alston Oils and Alston Ices to sponsor the event. All you have to do is build a scarecrow design a pumpkin, and dress the children in fancy dress with prizes for the first, second and third in each category. Then simply join Halloween on the Moor on Facebook, take a photograph and post it to the group. The judging will be done by Colin Briggs, formerly a BBC Look North presenter and has been a judge for Alston Gala for many years.

Closing dates for entries Saturday 31st October. Judging will take place the first week in November.
