Organisers of Penrith Sparkle, Christmas Lights Switch On event, have released an update about this year’s event. Penrith’s lights switch on attracted a huge crowd to the town last year. It will move online this year in light of the ongoing pandemic.

This year, Penrith BID have decided to encourage people to stay cosy at home and enjoy the lights switch on being streamed to their front rooms.

Darren Broad, Chair of Penrith BID, says: “In light of the current situation we have recognised that organising a large scale, public event cannot be done safely. So, this year we are doing things slightly differently.

“On 21st November at 6.00pm we will stream a video of the lights switch on to our Facebook page and website, and we’ll also be sharing fun festive games and recipes for the community to enjoy at home.”

Join in with your Christmas Lights!

Penrith BID would love it if the local community got involved with the switch on. Why not take a photo of your Christmas lights and share it with the rest of Penrith?

Join our ‘Christmas in Penrith’ Facebook Group for all the latest festive news including shopping promotions, offers, recommendations, recipes, advice and more. Think of it as your go-to place for all things Festive in Penrith.
