A Cumbrian charity is to launch a new fundraising initiative next month.
Hospice at Home West Cumbria is appealing for supporters to get behind their ‘Step Forward for Hospice’ challenge, which encourages people to sign up and pledge to walk 10K steps every day in April with all money raised helping to fund the vital work the charity provides across west Cumbria.
Gemma Bell, community fundraiser for Hospice at Home West Cumbria said: “The ‘Step Forward for Hospice’ challenge is a great way to get motivated and walk for a purpose.
“A lot of our events and fundraising activities have been put on the backburner again for 2021 and we are having to come up with different ways of fundraising to ensure we can keep on supporting families in our local community.
“‘Step Forward for Hospice’ is something that anyone can get involved in, whilst still adhering to the government guidelines. It’s also a great way of making sure you keep fit and active, which is really important for your physical and mental wellbeing, especially in these strange times we have been living in”.
Everyone who signs up will receive a welcome pack with a branded t-shirt and ideas of how to reach the daily steps target and advice on how to track steps.
Participants will register online and set up their own fundraising page to go live on April 1.
“The support we have had from the local community over these last twelve months has been overwhelming and we can’t put into words how grateful we are,” added Gemma.
“We hope things are going to pick up and look brighter for everyone very soon. As a charity, we must raise over £1m each year to carrying on providing our vital services and we really do continue to need your support more than ever”.
