Carlisle’s MP has welcomed the news that the city’s airport has been taken over by a new firm.
Ettyl Limited confirmed today that it would take over the airport, along with Stobart Air, with the new operator committing to retain all staff at the airport.
“This is surprising news but probably welcome news. It will hopefully mean the new owner will invest further into the airport and build on the work already carried out by Stobart,” said John Stevenson.
“I see it as a positive development because it means a new business is coming in that clearly wants to develop the airport.
“It is good news for the airport and the Borderlands region.”
The MP hopes the firm could bring a fresh perspective to the site.
“They will hopefully bring new ideas to the airport to help develop it further, John said.
“The airport is of strategic importance to Carlisle and the surrounding area, therefore anything that helps improve the viability and success of the airport has to be welcomed.”
