Workington Reds are to start talks next week with all seven of the applicants for the vacant manager’s job.
After the initial discussions the board will draw up a shortlist and hope to have their new man selected within a fortnight.
Chairman Dave Bowden said: “We decided to talk to them all because they all have something different to offer.
“It is a very high quality list from various levels of football and a diverse range of experience.
“Once we have talked to them all we will decide who to interview and hopefully make a final decision the week after next.
“Although we want a new man in place, there is no panic because the team is in good hands as it has been for the last two years.
“We will then discuss our coaching structure, and Steven Rudd will have an important role in that.”
Reds were left to look for a new manager when Danny Grainger left to join Falkirk as number two and Rudd, his assistant at Borough Park, has been running team affairs since his departure.
